New Year’s Diets

Friday, December 30th, 2005

Like a lot of people, you are making resolutions for the New Year. One probably has to do with diet. You may be general in your New Year resolution. Maybe ‘eat healthier’ or ‘eat less’ or ‘drink less beer’. Or you may have very specific New Year’s resolutions. You will ‘lose 14.5 pounds’ or ‘workout 4 days a week’ or ‘eat no more dairy’.

These are all great New Years resolutions. But you need to think and plan as to how you will do this. Fad diets are everywhere, ‘miracle’ supplements, ‘no work’ exercise plans. You need to be smart and avoid these like the plague.

If you need the support, Weight Watchers is available, and is also helpful online. Their diets are reasonable, and the more vegetarian you get, the healthier you will be. Ediets is not bad, I’ve tried them myself, but some of their diets are trendy and faddish. The support is pretty good as well.

The best place for support, whether you want a group going along with you, or you prefer to do it on your own, is the Anne Collins Weight Loss Program. I am a member and visit the unbelievably helpful forums at least once a day. There is a one time fee, no ongoing cost. The support is amazing and there is a large variety of diets, all healthful and tasty.

If your New Years resolution is to lose weight, but mostly on your own, you’ve come to the right place. Read my posts here on how to gain Real Health, and about diet and health fallacies. (See the categories links on the right side of the page). Your New Years resolution will work if you follow my guidelines.

In a nutshell, here are my Real Health diet guidelines.

1. Eat LOTS of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and beans.
2. Drink LOTS of water daily.
3. Supplement with whole foods concentrates, like you get at Jenny Lee Naturals, my source for Supergreens and Prevention Powder.

Very few mainstream ‘multivitamins’ are very useful. The one I suggest is Alive! Whole Food Energizer Multivitamin.

The other supplements I use and recommend are:
BioAstin by Nutrex, a powerful antioxidant and natural sunscreen
EFA Gold Cod Liver Oil, to get you the Vitamin D your body desperately needs but doesn’t get much of in the winter months

Eat healthy, exercise, take whole foods supplements, and avoid dangerous food additives like hydrogenated oils, msg, high fructose corn syrup and aspartame, and you’ll be healthier and thinner.

Make your New Year’s resolution come true!

I wish you a happy and healthy New Year!

Barbara
