I wrote something for a forum I belong to. I decided to post part of it here. It’s sort of my health manifesto.
**************
I’m going to read labels all the time. I’m not going to buy anything that has sodium nitrite, hydrogenated anything, high fructose corn syrup, yeast extract, hydrolyzed or autolyzed anything, aspartame, splenda, or things made in labs.
I’m going to drink good filtered water and lots of it. I will help my body flush out toxins, have my digestive system work the way it is intended to work. I’ll let my body’s cells have the water they need to do their work.
I am going to eat a vegetarian diet from now on. I feel it is the best for myself, my health, and my weight. I’m going to feed my body the nutrients it needs, from real food, from whole foods and whole foods supplements, not from added-in chemicals.
I am going to exercise regularly, building cardiovascular endurance and strength. When I was young, I gloried in being strong and fit. I want that back. I want to walk the trails on Mount Hood without a care, I want to explore this world and not worry about my knees, or my back or how long I can stand before getting exhausted.
I am going to enjoy life, not just get through it. I will relax, take things as they come. I will be serious about my body, its fuel and its strength, but I won’t obsess over it. I am blessed to have a lot of love and laughter and joy in my life and I will enjoy it all.
