I have a bookmark for a website called Nutrition Data. It is filled with a lot of good information about food and diet. I really like the section about the Better Choices Diet. Now, this isn’t really a diet in the sense of Dr. McDougall’s diet.
Instead you use a useful tool on Nutrition Data’s website to help you make better choices in what you eat. At the top of the home page is a food search box. Enter, for instance, ’saltines’, because you want some soup with crackers. It brings up some choices. So you select the first one and it gives you all the standard nutritional data. If you scroll down to near the bottom, it shows you a better choices selector. Click on the one for weight loss, baked products. It gives you a list of foods that provide better nutrition and fullness.
This is a particularly useful tool before you go shopping. Go through your shopping list, and see what substitutes you could buy that will be healthier for you and your family. Small changes will add up. For more small changes you can make, check out my first article about how to gain Real Health.
