Babylon 5

11/25/98--Well, it's over. I feel like I've lost a friend. Those of you who saw "Sleeping in Light" know what I mean. And since I want to keep the spirit of Babylon 5 alive in me, and in everyone who has watched or will watch this show over the years, the last words of Babylon 5, spoken by Susan Ivanova:

Babylon 5 was the last of the Babylon stations. There would never be another. It changed the future, and it changed us. It taught us that we have to create the future... or others will do it for us. It showed us that we have to care for one another, because if we don't, who will? And that true strength sometimes comes from the most unlikely places. Mostly, though, I think it gave us hope that there can always be new beginnings, even for people like us.

As for Delenn, every morning for as long as she lived, Delenn got up before dawn and watched the sun come up.

On a personal note, I've been immersed in Babylon 5 ever since a guy with the strange initials JMS posted on Compuserve about his new show starting up in syndication. It has been a wonderful ride and I am thrilled that Joe got the full five seasons he envisioned at the start. And, as usual, Joe said it best (from my archives circa 1995):
The history of this series is that of determination despite whatever obstacles are thrown at us. Once we set our minds to the course, nothing stops us.

Patience, determination, direction and strength.

Way to go, Joe!
